Wear long sleeves! about hair care

I'm new to hair. I'm not a hippie by any means - Kombucha or circles of fire don't exist for me. I shower every day but I just can't comb my hair living by the sea, I always want to drive with the windows down to breathe in that sea air. My hair gets tangled instantly and there is no point in combing it. At the same time, I sometimes have to comb them at work, go to a party with bougies and brushes. Enter the curling iron. I've curled my hair for maybe 5+ years. I didn't have to until a recent career change. So I checked out this one, great reviews, and bought it. It came quickly, well packaged, with an amazing range of sizes and an iron. Okay so I watched a youtube video on how to curl my hair and thought I was well prepared. I was not. It went well with gloves on, I was a bit proud of myself and got more confident. Then it got really bad. I turned around and burned my hand. In February. It's April now. I still have a coin sized burn on my forearm (now healed) but is scarred (looks like a bruise). Be aware that these kids are hot. They should be like that, not for fools like me who can't make hair. It's all MY fault. Will I buy this product a thousand times? Yes of course. Would I buy it for a teenager who can leave and walk away from it? no Or that kid you make your dream come true for by sending them to pageants and making them look like creepy little dolls that come to life and grow their hair the size of Texas? no Do I need to watch more YouTube tutorials or just pay someone professional to do my hair? Absolutely hell yes.
