I bought it a long time ago. I never used it and after trying again I remembered why. As other people have mentioned, yes it is quiet. It didn't bother me - it was loud enough for me (although maybe because I have an unusual pillow, something like a rattle). What bothered me is that it has a very tight frequency response. It's quiet enough to hear, I had to turn it up, but some frequencies are so loud my ears hurt after a few minutes from the sound. At least that's what I think happens - subjectively I notice that it's a really tinny sound and that my ears hurt when I turn it up high enough to hear it, but when I turn it down it skips low frequencies and I can not understand the words. Unfortunately it doesn't work for me.
