Does what it says on the tin, keeps the shoulders in the right position. This is a great way to build better muscle memory. I wore it for about 20 minutes at a time and noticed that after taking it off, it felt more natural for me to keep my posture correct. I can't attest to how effective it is for back pain, but I do know that proper posture is essential. It runs almost under the armpits, so it's not great for sweaty situations. If you find it difficult to put on and take off, try putting it on over your head and shoulders. That way, you don't have to loosen and adjust the straps (or twist your shoulders). Overall this item is quite affordable at this price point and I wear it while sitting at my desk or watching TV so I don't lie down like I usually do. make.
