This is probably the best find I've ever made with Revain - I'm amazed at how well it works! In a home FULL of solid wood doors and woodwork, keeping the finishes clean with children and animals can always be a challenge. I am convinced that the previous owner of my house has never seen an over-the-door storage system that he did not like (shoe racks, towel racks, clothes and hat racks, canned goods, ironing board holders). Add to that my own pets scratching the bottom of closed doors and one of my kids scratching their initials on the outside of their bedroom door as their first pocketknife project, you could say my wooden doors have suffered a lot. I thought I'd tried EVERYTHING except sanding and repainting all my wood doors: a) the wood pegs still left visible differences despite best efforts to match the color, b) wood stain cannot be perfectly matched without wood stain on the to apply to the surrounding surface. create a "halo" effect, and 3) home remedies that attempt to "dampen" a wood scratch so that it swells against YouTube can leave unwanted heat shadows/haze that destroy the surrounding wax coating. As my children grow, I am preparing to sell my home and after years of described abuse I have found the only way to 1) fix these unsightly stains on my doors and door panels and 2) keep all of my wood trim through home uniforms was to grind and polish everything. I was totally and mentally determined to take on this huge task until a colleague Hallo Maria slammed me by suggesting this product - and for what I had to go through in time, chaos, energy and finish this saved me 10- Dollar product well over $1500 I contracted with a local carpenter. I'm not sure of the circumstances surrounding all the negative reviews from others - I will say that this product is NOT a wood filler and this product will NOT fill voids/scratches; However what it does is hydrate the voids/scratches and the formula appears to soak in/reflect the surrounding wood surface making the voids/scratches 'visually' disappear. It was perfect for my needs/applications. I had scratches, cavities/scratches up to 1/8 inch deep and a quarter inch wide, and I could barely see them unless my face was a few inches from the surface. Attached are before and after photos of my two worst doors (heavy scratches from a dog trying to get into the bedroom and cuts from a pocket knife, with surrounding small dents/dents elsewhere on the door from backpack zippers and lariners). As mentioned, this does not fill in the voids, but rather obscures the voids visually. This product has no curing time to "cure" or dry; in excess, it has an oily appearance and is easily wiped off with an ordinary cotton rag or paper towel. How long the products last on repaired scratches - I suspect quite a long time; After application I hand finished/polished the wood with Old English - the scratches and dents were just as invisible as before polishing the same spot.
