LG34GN850-B is an update of LG 34GK950F-B. While it doesn't make any monumental leaps from its predecessor, it does improve in several places, making it a solid buy if you're trying to decide between the two. I don't want to write a long 5 paragraph review that no one will read, so let me just point out the differences. Improvements: - Overclocking 160 Hz vs. 144 Hz - Higher peak brightness by approx. 15% (Better HDR performance) - Shorter response time (Pro measurement: 5.8 ms vs. 9.7 ms on 34gk950f-b) - Improved black uniformity - Better reflection handling (better screen coverage) It is important to note that advertised "response times" are never accurate. Even the fastest TN panels cannot capture the actual transition from gray to 1ms when properly metered with a high-speed camera. I really wish LG and pretty much every other company would stop this dishonest marketing, but I digress. Measured in the real world, the 850's response time is still an impressive 5.8ms. This is a noticeable improvement over the 950 at 9.7ms. Most people will have a hard time noticing this. But if you play a lot of quick games, you can. The LG 34GN850-B does not have a black edge insert and can only be used with Freesnyc disabled. I think that's why LG decided not to include it in this model. This is a feature that most gamers will ignore as Freesnyc's benefits far outweigh BFI's. The 850 also has a new kickstand. This is neither for nor against. It is just as stable as its predecessor and offers the same settings. Please note that it is deeper. Therefore you need a few centimeters more table depth. Now that I have both models, I can safely say that the LG 34GN850-B is by far the best gaming experience I've had. I highly recommend it if you are willing to pay the cost. However, if you are the proud owner of an LG 34GK950F-B and you are happy with it, upgrading it is probably not enough. However, the choice between the two models is not difficult. Even if the new model is a bit more expensive, it is worth it. You can actually get a decent HDR gaming experience now, and response times are a significant improvement, if not more. "After trying several 34-inch ultrawide monitors over the past few months, including flagships from DELL (Alienware), ASUS, ACER and LG, I stuck with this one," Nuff said.
