Review on πŸ“Έ Manfrotto 130-14 Hexagonal Quick Release Mounting Plate with 1/4-20-Inch Thread and Flush Mounting Screw, Enhanced SEO by Tyrell Hudson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Mine arrived with a rubber plate instead of a plug as shown in the product photo

This hex plate fits perfectly on my 20 year old Bogen 3063 hydraulic head. Unlike the old plate, this plate is bare metal resulting in a noticeably different feeling when you insert the plate into the receiver and cam lock and release. The (old) painted version has less friction on the head and doesn't require precise placement. Just slam it and it stays safe. Not a big deal, but I noticed the difference. I like that the new head has a flat base that allows me to mount my camera vertically with the plate attached. This allows me to always leave the plate attached, saving time and the hassle of losing the adapter plate. This adds a bit of weight to the camera - I think the comfort is worth the trade-off. One thing to note: the product photo shows a cork connection to the camera. I got a rubber mat as an example. It seems to be made of such a material that it doesn't get "sticky" and the camera doesn't stick, but if you're looking for a cork (and I've been looking) then you can try before you buy to check. The price is right, so keep it.
