I've been using the A40 TR headset for about 10 months now and I'm happy to say it's worth every penny of Astro's asking price. The Sony PlayStation Gold was originally my primary gaming headset and I thought it was practically the pinnacle of gaming audio. Boy was I wrong. I first used this headset while playing Overwatch. My first impressions were really good to say the least, explosions and enemy footsteps were very detailed. It took me a while to get used to the improved sound as I was able to hear things much more accurately and clearly through my Gold headset. It's really one of those experiences that I can't fully explain. As for the quality of the microphone, my friends can definitely hear me clearly. Especially if I set the squelch to "streaming" when using the Astro command center. Durability seems pretty good so far, despite the fact that the TR headset is primarily made of plastic. Along with good durability comes good comfort. This headset is the most comfortable headset I have ever used and I mean it honestly. I can wear the Astro headset all day and feel no pain or discomfort. As far as presets go, the EQ presets are pretty nice, but admittedly I only really use TR mode. (This is the mode where you can hear footsteps most clearly.) If you don't like the Astro, Natural Bass, Balanced, or TR modes, you can visit the Astro forums and use other man-made EQ presets. I don't have an Astro A50 headset, so I can't compare the sound quality to the TR headset. But I do know that for me personally, this product has far exceeded my expectations. I will update this review over time in case something goes wrong for example. But so far I only have praise =]
