In the preface to this review I would like to say that I live in a trailer. My kitchen is impossibly small, so other than a few trusty chef's knives, a manual can opener, and a donut cutter, I don't have many kitchen items that I can't part with. In the past, I didn't have much trouble slicing, pitting, and slicing an avocado with a knife until I bought an OXO 3-in-1 Avocado Slicer. Seriously, where has it been all my life? As several other reviewers have stated, my avocado consumption has increased exponentially since purchasing this tool. The pitted part of the tool always squeezes the bone with no problem (and isn't afraid to hurt yourself like a knife), and the slicer works like a charm. open avocados that may be a day from ripe perfection. The avocado tool makes peeling and slicing these avocados easy, and with a little salt I hardly notice a difference.
