Review on πŸ”· Studebaker SB2003 Retro Portable AM/FM Radio: Timeless Teal Tunes On-the-Go by Jonathan Germain

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Easy to set up, adding a headphone jack and a separate power button. *

(*) These are improvements to the SB2003, 3 improvements over the Studebaker SB2001 radio model. Tuning will be easier on this model (SB2003), but I've found that the performance of the internal DSP circuitry is no different than the circuitry in the Studebaker SB2001. So if easy tuning isn't a huge issue for a person, then buying a Studebaker SB2001 will do a lot of good. . like the SB2003 but with fewer settings, and the SB2003's knobs are easier to manipulate because they aren't as "thick" as the SB2001's knobs. But on the other hand, you can give preference to any design. Radio or the ease with which it can be adjusted or controlled using the SB2003's now smaller control knobs. in the jack, now s has a headphone jack, something is missing from the SB2001. The lack of a headphone jack wasn't a deciding factor in my purchase of the SB2001 as I bought it to listen through the speaker rather than lugging around a beefy radio for headphone use, but I still like that the people who use these Developing radio series, buttons have improved, which was a big problem due to the difficult use of the SB2001. The SB2001 was a huge leap forward as the DSP circuitry was upgraded to fix an issue on the SB2000 where the radio (loop off) would turn off when fully on. This does not happen with the SB2001 or SB2003. I would be interested in a Spectr design that uses the same DSP circuitry but has a digital readout available to fine tune weak signals. I currently have to play with the dial as it doesn't "sit still" on weak AM signals and tends to go up. and turn the volume down as it can't pick up weak signals (I have the same problem with the SB20 model). 01), but at least it has some selectivity, enough to pick up weak AM signals, which most radios with an analog or digital DSP display can't.

Pros
  • High score for support and durability of testers
Cons
  • Some nuances
