The Roomba 980 served us well for two years, but it was time for an upgrade. The i7's full potential was not fully realized by us. This is a room-by-room cleaning system, but we ended up with a cheaper and less effective robot after selling the 980th. The i7's battery can hold up to 1800mA of power. We all know that battery life constantly decreases, but this is up to 75 minutes of use in optimum conditions and with a brand-new battery. Think about what that means. In addition, the i7 was far less effective at removing dirt from carpets than its sibling. In my opinion, the iRobot Roomba 980-960 is the superior model. It lacks the zone cleaning capability of its predecessor, so you'll need to close doors and set up barriers, but it has a longer run time and stronger suction power.
