The 4K picture is nice and the apps are as good as one would expect (well, for the most part), but that's not really why anyone anymore than paid $600 for The Frame. (compared to an equally sized Samsung 4k QLED TV). Everyone pays extra for either a thin mount (I'm sure there are some design nuts in there) or an "artistic mode". Well I paid for the art mod because I think the black rectangle on the wall is NOT a picture of the future. So far very disappointed. Those who have decided to let us mortals use our own content have never tried it themselves. Specific cons: 1. Pay attention to the attached photos. The first three are the same photo taken in portrait orientation (ooh!). When viewed in a content list on an attached USB storage device, the image is cropped to fit the horizontal slot. Not perfect, but... good. But if you look closely, you will see a strong pixelation. For real? Can't even resize an image these days? But wait, it gets "better"! 2. As soon as I click on "Preview" the image (attachment #2) is shown in full screen. Except that it's been scaled down to fit the TV's horizontal orientation. For real? Can't you think of a "virtual carpet" to take a portrait with? And then.3. I save the image to the TV, but its artistic mode (as opposed to preview mode) can't properly interpret the metadata in the image, making it appear SIDE (see my #3). This is particularly annoying as the sw preview handles this correctly.4. The automatic brightness adjustment to the ambient light (in art mode) works perfectly. It takes 2-4 seconds for the TV to notice the change (which destroys the illusion of a natural picture, but ok, be it!). What really annoys me is that when the lights in the room go completely off, the brightness of the art doesn't even try to come through. Illusion destroyed.5. You can display non-landscape images correctly by uploading them through the SmartThings app. Result OK (see photo #4) [Yes, I didn't bother to remove all the stickers and tape because every minute I get a stronger feeling that I can return this beast].6. The number of collage options in the SmartThings app is limited to two - see Fig #5. Really unacceptable for use outside of art galleries. I would expect at least a dozen layouts, which allows me to mix and match at least a dozen items.7. And if you were hoping to have video content in ArtMode (maybe a window to your favorite beach?) - forget it. Video is not supported in art mode.8. You can play your videos by selecting "Source" -> "Storage Device", you can even play them in a loop. But this regime has its own problems. First, it completely ignores the input signal from the ambient light sensor.9. What's really annoying is that while your vacation photo and video thumbnails are displayed together, once you enter presentation mode, you just scroll through the photos or just the video (whatever the first item in your show is). . For real? Does anyone know a person who films until noon and then religiously switches to films? Bottom line: if you don't find an app in the Samsung Store for the next five days that will make this TV behave as expected, it's back. The nice folks at Best Buy told me a software update was "coming soon" but couldn't tell me anything specific about the improvements, so I'm not holding my breath. No for this price.
