Review on πŸŽ’ Kelty Women's Catalyst Emerald Backpack: The Ultimate Companion for Adventurous Women by Richard Stewart

A daypack is garbage. Otherwise good bag

I bought this without testing it personally first. I am returning it mainly because of the detachable design of the backpack. I assumed the day pack would be the top cover (the part with the embroidered Kelty logo). This top CAN be detached if you don't want to use it, however the day pack is separate. It sits beneath this top panel and tucks into two buckled straps that run horizontally across the back. There is nothing to attach the bottom part to the bag - it is only attached to 2 buckles at the very top. When the entire pack is fully loaded and the top panel is tightened, the daypack is in place, but when the top panel is open, the daypack begins to slide (up) and get in the way. Looks too thin so I will look for a bag with a different design. Access to the main compartment is somewhat restricted. There is a diagonal zip at the bottom, a short zip at the side closer to the top, and then access to the main drawstring from the top. Although there are 3 access points, 2 of them are quite small. The bag looks very high quality. The buckles, straps and zippers appear to be of good quality. It's very comfortable to wear, although I haven't tried it with a full weight.

Pros
  • Absolutely great!
