I'm not sure if my version was supposed to have a suction cup, but it didn't (Escape 2021). The instructions mention "suction cup" and I interpreted that as a suction cup. This is important as it greatly simplifies installation. Luckily I had one laying around and it came in handy when I couldn't get the big bubbles out. I thought I was stuck with a bubble and maybe a stain behind the material but both have faded to nothing and now it looks great. I find it enhances the screen and is not noticeable at all.
