I wisely believe that this company has never made pure beeswax candles. The reason is that their wick size chart is wrong! You will NOT be able to correctly burn a pure beeswax hand-poured candle if you select a wick from this chart that matches the diameter of your candle. Whatever the diagram tells you, you simply MUST go up about two levels to make a properly burning beeswax candle. If you instead use the wick size indicated in the chart, you will have a candle that does not burn brightly and, moreover, simply does not burn. Beeswax candles require a good thick wick; thicker than any other candle. Too bad they don't offer a sample soak kit. I found that doubling the size of the wick (which I had to do) would be too thick to burn my candles too quickly. Even when pouring votive candles, you still need to increase the wick. I haven't tried making birthday candles yet; I suspect the wick size may not need to be increased in this case. However, I still don't know what birthday candles are as I haven't made them yet. Consider this review a blessing. I had to learn from my own bitter experience. Now I need to twist two strands of this wick to get the right thickness for our candles to burn properly. Another tip: Light the finished candle at the base of the wick for a few seconds to create an intense heat that keeps the candle burning bright and bright. I light a beeswax coated hemp wick with a match to light our candles. I also trim burnt wicks to 1/4 inch with a wick trimmer before relighting, and re-trim the wicks while they're burning if they get too tall. A wick company provides such an irrelevant diagram when they claim to make a wick specifically for beeswax candles. Really unsatisfactory. The quality is good but the chart size is fake hence the four star rating.
