Review on ☕ Espressotoria Caprista Capsule Machine, Black: The Ultimate Coffee Companion by Richard Miller

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great coffee, only patented capsules

I avoided all coffee makers until I stayed at a Portland hotel where I had this Espressortoria Capsta in my room. It was the best coffee I have ever had from a hotel coffee maker and I bought it as soon as I got home. The amount of water in your shot is programmable. It was a tiny shot by default, so I increased the amount of water to about what the hotel expressed and I was very happy with the results. I didn't use a milk frother because I already had a manual one. It hasn't replaced my AeroPress for my daily morning coffee, but it's perfect for a quick shot or a homemade affogato. The only reason I gave four stars instead of five is because the capsules are currently a highly protected Espressotoria brand. about 80 cents per shot. It takes two to brew something like a full cup of coffee. I've tried a few of their fragrances and have been happy with most of them. The Italian is a bit bitter. I'd be happy if there was a refillable pod that I could fill with coffee of my choice, but it looks like they went with the "printer business model”: cheap machine, expensive cartridges. I think she looks great on the counter. and takes up very little space. The assembly is simple and the coffee can be drunk in about 5 minutes after unpacking. It says the coffee can be removed from the composting pod but it is very difficult for me to remove the lid to empty the coffee so most of the time they end up in the trash. Overall I'm very happy with it and hope that more specialized coffees will start producing their capsules as more people invest in this brand.
