Review on 🎨 Enhance Your Artwork with Sargent Art 22-8810 32-Ounce Acrylic Gloss and Varnish by Kelsey Brown

Do not use on white paintings! Dries yellow.

I bought this clear varnish as a protective varnish for my acrylic canvas paintings. Please be careful not to use it on white paintings! This polish will turn yellow as it dries. I usually use Liquitex polish but I tried to save money by buying these. I made a direct comparison by dripping some of both polishes onto a white background and letting them dry overnight. Sargent was noticeably yellow while Liquitex was completely clear and colorless. They differ in that Sargent's lacquer is opaque white straight out of the bottle and Liquitex is transparent. I won't return it because it's already open, but I think I can use it on dark or already yellowish paintings and less important artworks. I also had the problem that it was quite cold in the house when I tried to varnish the painting and although I worked very quickly Sargent's varnish stuck together and hardened on the surface of the painting becoming rough and uneven. . I had to soak and wipe off a paper towel. I do not know why. I tried again with a damper brush and had more success. I think it needs to be diluted with water. This hardening and sticking within two minutes of leaving the bottle is very alarming. I've never had this problem with Liqutex polish. I can usually walk over the surface multiple times while applying Liquitex and it will remain smooth and workable for as long as I need it. I give it 2 stars because it can be used diluted as an inexpensive varnish for dark paintings.
