Good to begin with. The measuring tape is excellently processed in all areas that really matter. The band blade is very strong and stiff with clear markings. 32 marks in the first 12 inches are very welcome. The design shines when it comes to the end hook - it has zero play other than direction which internal and external measurements must take into account. I've never seen another tape measure hook design that even comes close to Tajima's. There is a padded bumper to prevent the tape measure hook from hitting the body on recoil and I expect this will do a lot to avoid damage to the tape measure hook rivets which could affect the measurements. Poorly. My ONE big complaint, and a pretty significant one in my opinion, is that the tape is NOT AS ACCURATE as I had hoped. Compared to my accurate 12" steel ruler (and also verified with Mitutoyo certified digital calipers) the tape measure is about 1/3 off the 32nd. Both internal and external measurements have the same error (meaning the hook design works very well). I've heard so many good things about this brand and their reputation for accuracy, but I haven't been as good as I hoped. As I use it for fine woodworking and furniture making it means the difference between seamless quality wood joinery and second rate joinery. It's easily accessible on your face. A standard belt clip would be much better in my opinion.
