We had some issues with our heater which went out this year. It's getting REALLY cold but our heating isn't working. Our house is pretty well insulated but we needed something to help. Let's see what happened to this heater. WHAT IS THIS HEATER FOR? This heater is a small radiant heater. Size 26 x 12 x 6 inches. There's a gorgeous digital display in a champagne colored frame with a gold frame. There's also a cute little remote control. REMOTE CONTROL This remote control is very small. The trick is to hang it up with Velcro to attach it to a wall or somewhere you can't lose it. It is very small and thin - easy to lose. The batteries will be shipped in it and it has a plastic wrap to prevent the batteries from running out during transit. Be sure to remove it before first use. The remote control is very handy and works well although you have to look at it face to face for it to work well. WHEELS It has two brackets with wheels that you should install on the underside of the oven upon receipt. You should not use the heater without it installed. They can rotate 360 degrees freely, easy to move and operate. The cord and plug are only about 5 feet long (it's plugged in and working, otherwise I'd measure accurately) so you'll need either a nearby outlet or an extension cord, which is designed to handle the high demand for such devices . HEAT The heat quality is very good. It's a gentle warmth that doesn't dry the air like some others we've had. It rises to the set temperature and then flashes when it has reached it. It will continue at this temperature for the time set on the timer. TIMER The timer works very well. We used it at night and wore it on for six hours to keep it warm, but not too warm, around the house. IS THERE A FAN IN IT? It doesn't have a fan to move the air in the room. VENTILATION FREE? I'm referring to this because if, like me, you're very sensitive to unvented heaters, this is a CRITICAL issue. No, this device is completely sealed. It doesn't smell or smoke at all. I'm so glad. USES Our house has very low ceilings and a central spot we placed this to keep the cold out of the main part of the house. It's rated for one room, so if you have high ceilings or a very large room I wouldn't recommend using it as the main heat source just to boost it on very cold days. EXACTLY? It's pretty accurate. It heats up a few degrees above normal, then cools down until it ignites to your chosen setting. DO WE BUY IT AGAIN? We will definitely buy it again. ANY WARNINGS? It must be 3 feet away from walls or obstacles when running. You can't expect to squeeze this into a tiny space with no airflow. Heat comes from the sides, not the front and back. CONCLUSION This heater was a real find. We love how it cools the air until our main heater is fixed. It's not designed for large rooms, but in our small house with low ceilings it does a great job of keeping the cold out of several small rooms until our heater can be fixed. This is a great backup heater. MY RATING IS FIVE STARS. I love this heater and am very glad we have it. It helped a lot during that embarrassing time when our heater needed repairs.
