Review on Suction Cup Phone Holder: Adjustable Arm, Low Profile Dashboard & Windshield Mount Stand - Compatible with All iPhone and Android Cell Phones - by APPS2Car by Josel Lambert

Very good little mount for hard surfaces. Misleading instructions, NOT for soft/soft surfaces!

First off, this is a great little non-magnetic mount, especially when you need a little leverage for positioning but don't need a full telescopic mount or gooseneck. I use it on the dash of a small SUV with fairly spirited driving, and it holds an iPhone 8 very securely in its sleek case. Yes, there's some vibration - this isn't SteadyCam - but the phone doesn't slip and the mount doesn't amplify the vibration. Very good positioning range, easy one-handed phone insertion and removal if you tape the edge against one ear of the mount and press far enough to release the opposite ear, then grab the mount and center it. Similar to most non-magnetic vent mounts. Warnings: _never_ use the suction cup on a soft surface or on a coated surface (as shown in the large product photo!). Also on the surface with a slight "protrusion". The suction rips the surface layer off the underlying padding and destroys your dash. This applies to all suction cups, not just this particular product. you have been warned The description, pictures and instructions for this mount confuses "texture" and "gasket" and suggests that you use the included accessory washer on "textured" surfaces. My dashboard is made of hard plastic with a leather texture. The mount's main suction cup has a layer of clear gel that matches this texture and sticks great - no extra washer required. The additional disk ("Dashboard Pad") that the manufacturer recommends for use on "textured" surfaces is _not_ the same as the sticky secondary disks used in other mounts (like the iOttie) - anything what it is is a hard plastic circle, smooth on one side (so the suction cup of the mount has a grip) and on the other side a layer of 3M VGB. 3M VHB is a PERMANENT adhesive ("VHB" stands for "Very High Bond"). The instructions seem to indicate that it's removable and reusable. It is neither one nor the other. DO NOT use the secondary drive for anything you later intend to remove it from. However, it's a nice little mount if you use it properly.
