I own many Bose products, from headphones to portable speakers to soundbars. And I'm glad the Open Earbuds' sound signature is similar to other Bose products. I am prone to ear infections and am unable to use my headphones for long periods (more than 30 minutes). So I have a Bose Sound Wear watch that is now being discontinued. Sound Wear works well too, but it's a bit weird on your shoulder and other people around you can hear the speaker. This new open earbud is also good for my ear health, but it sounds a little different. Its mids and lows are on par with Sound Sport headphones (slightly better than Sound Wear), but the highs are slightly discolored and lose some clarity. If you listen to the news or podcasts, no problem at all. When I listen to the radio I cannot understand what people are saying around me (I hear murmurs and noise) even with my ears open. And the headphones are barely audible to other people in a quiet room. Listening to soft music allows me to converse with others (but I don't find that helpful or respectful). At such a low volume, the environment does not hear the headphones at all. Overall the sound is still great. It is easy to carry with one hand. However, after a few hours of use, my ears start to feel a bit uncomfortable (it feels pinched, but not too bad). But I like to use it when washing dishes, shopping or working in the living room. Finally, the microphone is not that loud. Short phone calls are fine, but I won't use it for meetings.
