When the original grip broke I replaced it with one of those aftermarket grips that lasted a few months. So I bought another one. As with other reviews, I found the knob on the timer shaft was loose and not turning the timer. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that the shaft on the timer was worn out. Any pin I put in there wouldn't fit snugly and wouldn't trigger the timer. I replaced the timer with an OE timer and handle (I had read reviews of non-original timers and how easily they broke and thought the extra twenty dollars was worth it). The new timer spins without the resistance that the only timer had. It looks like the old timer just wore out, and due to the fact that it was difficult to turn, the handle began to tear off the shaft. This is an expensive repair but cheaper than a new dryer. A pair of vise pliers will allow you to use your old timer a few more times.
