UPDATE: We ended up buying two, an 8x25 and an 8x32. noticeable optical aberrations under most conditions. In the end, that's what counts; disappointed with some other monoculars, this one is a keeper. I think the 8x25 is not as sharp as the 8x32 - The construction is very solid and reliable - The large eye relief makes it easy to use with glasses. Disadvantages: - The focuser of the 8x32 is very stiff and cannot be operated with one hand. The 8x25 focuser, on the other hand, works effortlessly. I'm wondering how much of this has to do with size and how much is just sampling variation. Because the focuser is designed for precise control and can be stiff, it takes a lot of turns to go from far to close. or the other way around. The sturdy construction makes it extraordinarily heavy. If weight is an issue, stick with 8x25. Glare protection from bright light near the viewing angle is pretty poor. You will have trouble aiming anywhere near the sun or at night, even next to a street lamp. - The eyecup extender is made of hard plastic, not rubber. [UPDATE] I now realize that the claimed "8x" magnification is an exaggeration. The actual increase is significantly lower. However, still very useful.
