I have had a set of Monroe front shocks in my 29 year old Chevy Astro Van for 20 years. I noticed that they were finally wearing out (not bad, 2 decades!) when the van started to feel "dizzy" around corners at freeway speeds. I installed Gabriel front shocks and drove the very twisty US52 route from Cleveland, GA to Dahlonega. and back. Now the van is accurate again, especially at 50-60 mph. I wondered why all the cars were braking so hard on corners. As the steering, tyres, etc. are in good condition and haven't changed, I believe the new dampers have improved handling. I think the next 20 years with this van will be good too.
