This is the best kitchen utensil I've bought in YEARS! I was expecting the performance of these smoother looking plastic instruments, but I got the performance you can really expect from such a beautiful, quality instrument. I've recently become obsessed with eating oranges off my back tree and have been eating at least 3-5 times a day for several weeks. This tool absolutely added to the pleasure I found in the ritual of picking, peeling, and eating these little sunjuice balls. I worked to improve my technique and gradually changed it. It's not sharp enough that I'd have to worry about being used by a kid over 8 or 10 (I might use plastic for younger kids, just in case), but it's definitely sharp enough to get the job done quickly and easy to do. There aren't many nooks and crannies here, so a hot water rinse would be fine if I was planning on using it again that day, or a quick scrub with a dish brush if I was cleaning it up. I'm thinking of getting a few of these for hostess gift baskets or just for friends to have a nice little tool that makes peeling oranges fun instead of getting boring.
