Review on Dimensions Needlecrafts 08124 Sequined Stocking by Kelly Caballes

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Beautifully detailed!

Beautiful stocking! There are many variations of hues making it beautifully detailed. I did a lot of cross stitches and it was a bit tricky because of the small stitches and intricate color variations. It really keeps you on your toes and I wouldn't recommend it for beginners. In addition to cross stitches, there are half stitches, reverse stitches, French knots, cuffs and sequins. In addition, you not only use two rows, but also half stitches that require two, three, four and even five threads. This leads to my only complaint and means that I ran out of numerous strands of commonly used colors like greens, burgundy, etc. Five strands makes the floss run out quickly despite following the directions and not wasting any floss. Luckily I was able to find a similar thread to use. Also, there are stitches that require two colors to be mixed together, which really adds some nice detail. The photo I took shows my work for 3.5 months, many hours a day. I have to finish the bodice with the name once the baby is born along with contouring and detailing to make it even more beautiful! In addition, as many have said, the white felt backing included in the kit is of poor quality. After spending so much time To create this beautiful piece, this cheap white felt lining doesn't do it justice. I bought a higher quality red felt for the back (see picture) which completes the beauty. The instructions suggest breaking all six strands into individual strands. I thought it was a waste of time and it was much easier to separate as needed than to put individual strands together. I also put each color in a numbered envelope. Filed in numeric form, it was organized and much easier to use. I thought it was a waste of time and it was much easier to separate as needed than to put individual strands together.
