Proper technique is very important

I do needlework, I have some experience in home painting. In order to achieve the effect shown in the preview of this product (door), it is very important to provide a textured look. I bet a smooth surface looks less attractive/bordering on ugly. Here's what I recommend: Use a foam roller, like the FoamPro 4β€³, which is a high-density foam roller colored yellow. Also, use a corner molding if your door has ridges, which most doors do. Step 0: Do all the prep work! Step 1: Be sure to paint deep corners and hard-to-reach areas with a regular brush. You have to squeeze the paint into tiny corners. This is a very thick paint, so use a small-tipped (1 inch) brush. and push it in. Paint all cracks and corners with a brush. Do not paint over flat areas with a brush as this will leave brush marks. Be careful not to get runs. Simply wipe or dab with a cloth. Caution: This paint dries very quickly. and we're going to use that to our advantage here. Step 2: Now onto the flat areas which make up the majority of the visible areas. Use a sponge roller and soak the roller well. Then gently press the edges of the roller to remove excess paint (otherwise there will be marks from the edges). Now apply paint to the flat areas. Go all over the door. *Here's the trick* Feel when the paint dries (depending on your environmental conditions). Just before it dries, while it's still a little sticky, keep running the roller over it. this will aggravate the surface and cause small-spiked swelling. Do this several times until the surface is rough. The paint dries and retains its rough shape. Use a corner roller to get the same technique into the grooves of the door. Step 3: Apply a second coat using the same technique as above. Step 4: Apply with a brush to touch up small blemishes. If there are any bumps, just smooth them out with a roller before trying. If you want a very rough look I recommend using a 3x thick primer and using this paint I suggested. There is a primer Zissner 3X or something like that, very thick. Note that you don't want to "round" the edges too much when building. After priming, use an angled blade to redefine the corner/edge of the door. Much luck.
