I have the same problem that many reviewers have: The brace slides but doesn't lock securely no matter how hard I push. I'm afraid if I press harder I'll break the monitor bezel. This means it will slip when the monitors are tilted or rotated (I have a couple of HP Pavilion 23xw flat screens). I should have paid more attention to the reviews. VIVO did a great job with the freestanding dual monitor desktop mount I bought, but they failed with these adapter plates. It's a shame that HP didn't include VESA mounts in the original packaging.
