Baby is 18 months old and I bought a 2-3 year old who was the youngest. She doesn't panic too much when putting it on as it gives/stretches and she got used to it quickly. I adjusted her to it first under her chin for a while, then over her mouth for a while and then used the switches to tighten it a bit since she was small as she was. Eventually she got used to the nose and she could still breathe normally/it wasn't too tight. I know she's younger than the recommended age but I took a chance and I'm glad I did as it kept her warm during the sleigh ride. I plan to use it all winter when we play outside,
