Review on Anker Soundcore Mini Bluetooth Speaker - Super-Portable with 15-Hour Playtime, 66-Foot Bluetooth Range, Enhanced Bass, Noise-Cancelling Microphone (Black) by Carl Morgan

Decent speaker. Anker does not include a plug

When you look at this product, you must understand that this is a $30 speaker. I say that because you basically get what you pay for. If you're looking for booming stereo sound that will blow your mind, I'd suggest you look elsewhere. In fact, I'd recommend the Logitech UE Boom series or any other Bluetooth speaker that's at least three times the price of this one. Looking for something compact to fill, say, a bedroom with decent sound quality, this speaker is for you. I'll talk more about the sound quality of this speaker in a moment, including the obvious omission of what is NOT included with this purchase. I have Revain DOT. I needed something small to boost the sound from this device. This Anker product is perfect. It can be used with both Bluetooth and wired connection. I went with wired (and bought a separate 3.5mm cable) because Bluetooth audio with DOT can sometimes drop out. A wired connection to this device ensures voice responses are not interrupted by Bluetooth transmission latency. So for those of you with Revain DOT this is the perfect speaker for this device. The sound quality is decent. In fact, I'll go one step further and say that it's better than you'd expect from a device of this size. The sound of the product fills the room. It does have some bass response, but those of you who like a lot of "boom" will be disappointed. Perfect for on the go, this speaker fills a hotel room with sound for personal enjoyment. It's not particularly well suited to entertaining a large party where you really want the sound to be the priority. I tested this speaker's Bluetooth capabilities with my iPhone and it worked great. Pairing was quick and easy. The cable connection also worked perfectly. There is a Micro SD slot on the back of the speaker so you can play music straight from the card. I don't fully understand the need for this feature as most of the devices you plug into this speaker already have a memory feature. I don't need such a feature and would rather have Anker invest their money elsewhere to make this a perfect Bluetooth device, such as providing a power adapter. That's something this speaker sorely lacks. A USB charging cable is included, but no power supply. I think it's very "cheap" on Anker's part that he doesn't deliver. I was lucky to have an extra iPhone adapter lying around. I'm not sure if those of you reading this review have it too. I'm deducting a star from this review for this omission. Overall I would rate this speaker a 5 star product for what it is. If you buy SoundCore and know its strengths and limitations, you will be very satisfied with it. It's more of a 'personal' speaker than anything else.

Pros
  • Compact and powerful, the super-portable Bluetooth speaker delivers powerful sound and rich bass with an advanced 5W driver and passive subwoofer.
Cons
  • So far so good
