I was pleasantly surprised at how loud and good it sounds. My old Onkyo is louder, but I never use it at a volume that doesn't ring my ears. The thing is still pretty loud. Louder than I need. It has good sound quality. The bass from the main speakers is a little less than my Onkyo, but not by much. The subwoofer fills this in, albeit with a slight change. On the other hand, it has more high frequencies. It's very clean and sounds great on my Polk Audio speakers and subwoofer. It has controls that I love about my audio hardware. On the plus side, adjusting the sub-frequency on this thing means I don't have to crawl across the floor to adjust anything on my subwoofer to even it all out. It works with both active and passive subwoofers. It seems well built, the grips feel good and it's small. The Onkyo I had was just over the top and too big for my living room. Very happy with it. The only drawback: the power supply is dead. Not quite, it became quieter and quieter. A new 8 amp power supply from an old laptop works great.
