Quiet efficiency!

I have been a loyal user of a well known company's portable filter for over 30 years. in hobby fish farming, but changes in the design of my filters in recent years have made them unbearably noisy and forced me to look for another option. That's how I came across EA Performance Filter. Although there were no reviews about it, I decided to give it a try. The first thing that struck me right out of the box is the generous amount. Places for the medium in the filter box. The theme gives fans so many media options! Yes, they come with a pre-fitted charcoal filter along with a sponge fill, but you can actually install this filter with whatever fill you wish to use. Government office. Space in the filter box makes it an excellent biological filter! From ceramic infill to volcanic rock infill, from sponge to polyester fiber and every combination in between, this filter will handle it all. It should also be noted that large filter bags made for [Tetras] Whisper filters can be used with media that is much cheaper and better constructed [in my opinion] than filter bags made for that filter. The flow knob is a bit misleading as in practice it's more of a high or low flow knob than a true flow control throughout the high to low turning process. But that doesn't stop me from buying again. The flow rate is very good. Not suitable for fish like bettas that prefer almost still water but definitely suitable for most aquarium fish --- even tested it with my big goldfish with fancy fins and the current didn't bother it unless it was high there, where she was noticeable current problems. The filter tubes are fitted with expansion options allowing this filter to be used in higher/deeper tanks than many similar filters of the same capacity. Please note that the power supply does not save children, nor does it save fancy fins (fancy goldfish lovers beware!) or medium-sized cleaner snails (e.g. ) to survive by crawling onto the designated part of the inlet pipe (they get sucked out of the sink, and that is not the best way). However, it can easily be changed. I cut the plastic off the aquarium baffle, twist a small piece into a tube, and tuck it into the tube's slatted bottom to prevent it from sucking in Endler livebearers, snails, and the very long fins of my fan-shaped goldfish. It also prevents plant debris from entering and covering the bioenvironment (which can affect efficiency). The plastic has many tiny holes that don't block the flow of water. I don't like using sponge lifeguards for kids because they tend to clog and snag on "things" making it difficult for my plant-safe snail harvesting team to do their job - not to mention the water flow and with it less to reduce filter efficiency. As for the noise level. This filter isn't noiseless, but it's the best coverage I've found on the market (quieter than even those that advertise low noise in their trademark!), but that's easily solved with a decorative stone attached to sitting in the right place. It has a low, gentle rumble. So in short. Very efficient, versatile, relatively quiet, well-designed filter for aquariums up to 55 US gallons. If you are keeping dirty species (like goldfish), the filter, like any filter, is suitable for a smaller volume of water (no more than 40 US gallons in this case). For my deeply planted tank, I use this model as a two-stage filter along with their smaller (30 US gallon) model as a biological filter (both set to low flow). In my goldfish tank I use this filter as a two-stage filter (concentration chemical filtration), a smaller filter of the same type from another manufacturer (which I already had) works alongside it as a biological filter and as an internal filter of biological filters. After 6 months of use, fish lovers can recommend this filter this season without hesitation =)
