The Kegerator is in the basement so was purchased to reduce beer travel. Debut at a family barbecue on a 95 degree day. The beer was cold to the bottom of the mug. It was possible to use ice in a metal cylinder, but it was possible to be sloppy when refilling. We have used frozen gel packs and they have served the purpose. We had two, but the third added time to the first used for referencing and maintaining rotation. Good product.
