This is a really solid drive, preformatted for my MacBook Pro and includes my external iTunes library. Unlike the previous Seagate 4TB external drive, this one is much more reliable and also more resistant to disconnection when the laptop is moved without removing it etc. The previous drive often corrupted the iTunes library file and created a huge mess. While I'd love to be able to power this drive from my laptop, the external power supply is long enough and not so big that I just keep it on my desk rather than take it with me on a trip. The drive is quiet and yet super reliable and fast. Contrary to what I read in the description, ALL the necessary cables are included with this drive, so you don't have to buy an additional Firewire cable like I did. USB and others are also included. Good value for money.
