We have six commercial Sanitaire vacuums. There are many children (16-20 years old) in our shop and they are cruel to them. We had to replace a lot of cords because they were stuck, but for the most part the vacuums are holding up very well. In six years we've only replaced a few motors, a few switches and a broken handle. I think this is typical as we have some other high end vacuums that are used in the same way and we are seeing the same repair issues. If something goes wrong, parts for these plumbers are easy to come by and fairly easy to replace. One mistake I made when ordering two vacuums was that I actually wanted a different model. It was my mistake when ordering but I wanted one that is wider in the front. Don't think they're all the same when they're called Sanitaire Commercial Upright. Check the model number. If you need a wider brush range, the SC899 is for you. I will leave them because they are already assembled. In fact, they're good for cleaning in tighter areas, but don't cover large areas as quickly. It's almost the same vacuum except for this one, so I would order based on your needs and the area you need to vacuum.
