Review on High-speed Western Digital Velociraptor 1TB 10K RPM SATA III 2.5-Inch Internal Hard Drive: Ultimate Performance and Storage by Timothy Schroeder

I bought this drive to store BluRay image files so I can play them on multiple computers without optical disc players. I've tried using this drive with the Startech USB 3.0 adapter to no avail. At first I thought the drive was bad, but after testing it in an Orico powered USB 3.0 dock the drive works fine. Apparently the Startech adapter is not supplying enough power to spin up the hard drive. Spring. I just use the Orico dock to play the files. Otherwise, this drive performs fairly well with decent write speeds. I can't confirm the read speed yet, but I suspect it's more than enough to play BluRay files. It's also fairly quiet, with not too much vibration, although it does get quite warm on long writes, but that's not an issue. I have yet to see how that affects durability. I will post an update if the drive fails too quickly.
