I fitted this filter to our 77ft VW Westfalia in preparation for a 4km trip this summer. It worked well and protected my engine. I use Delo 400 15w40 on my bus. Air-cooled VW engines generate a lot of heat and are oil intensive. Especially if they often drive in mixed mode (read: highways, country roads, dirt roads, inclines, etc.). This filter kept the oil relatively clean and caught tons of dirt. After the ride I removed the filter. First, a can made of strong and thick metal with quality connections. Second, the filter is well assembled with metal end caps, even bonding and tight pleats. Thirdly, the filter material is dense and well made of synthetic material, just like Purolator says. I have never used Purolator before but now all my 3 cars will be fitted with Purolator filters.
