"Anyone who saves six cents on these screws deserves a public flogging," I thought to myself when the second screw splintered at the slightest resistance. Anyway, I have screws. In just a few hours, I removed the broken fasteners, drilled new pilot holes, and installed the mounting hardware. Yes, what was supposed to be a 10 minute project went way beyond that, but just think how wonderful my office would look with these beautiful layered flooring! I hastened to fix it. Fabulous! It's hardly noticeable that it doesn't really fit the advertised width, and the frayed fabric goes perfectly with that bridge I can't reach. Now the important thing is to test them out by banishing the glare from my computer monitor! But wait, where's the pen? Is it still in the box? How should it be attached? There must be something in the one-page instructions. Ah, salvation! I have one more! I just take a lampshade from another box and then send back the broken one or figure out how to fix it.
