I bought my polydactyl cat Tommy a scratching post/apartment but he kept trying to scratch our doors anyway. I had to find another solution for all 15 of his front claws. The moment I got it he started using it. We've had him for about two months now and he thinks it doesn't matter where we take him now. When we get home he runs to his notebook and scratches it excitedly. Sometimes he even perches on it indiscriminately, despite being about half the size of his 17-pound frame. It seems very comforting to him. Tommy is happy, our landlord too. This is a win-win situation for everyone.
