Review on πŸ—„οΈ Drawer Slide Mounting Brackets - Pair by Drew Poulin

Not good for appliances

The thought of the soft-closing drawers in the kitchen got me very excited! I'm not exactly sure what I was expecting, but I can tell you these rails aren't right. I looked at soft close splints and decided on them based on the price and positive reviews. Of the five kits I've installed, only two seem to really work properly, but they still take some getting used to. To open the drawer, you first have to pull harder than usual to activate the self-closing mechanism, which isn't a deal breaker but definitely takes some getting used to. After that it opens fine and smoothly. Closing the drawer is much more painful. You can't push the drawer a little and walk away and expect it to close, oh no. Closing isn't as smooth, so you have two options; You can 1) slam it and hope it goes far enough to activate the soft close AND hits it hard enough to activate it. If this happens, then everything is fine and the box will close. or 2) Push the drawer hard enough to hit the mechanism with enough force to lock it. Whichever you choose, once the soft-close mechanism kicks in, it takes over and closes the drawer beautifully, which remains 3/4 inch wide. Of the remaining 3 slides, one works like the first two I mentioned but doesn't close fully, it leaves the drawer open about 3/8" then you have to close it all the way. The mechanism on the other two doesn't matter, they're just difficult to open and close with drawer slides. So overall I would not recommend buying these rails. I'm seriously considering removing them, replacing the old cheap ones and returning them, but that's a bit more work than I'm willing to do at the moment.
