After using this adapter for a few months, I can say from my experience that the WiFi speeds are consistent everywhere. At first it connected at 173 Mbps, then 585, then 173 again. Tried turning the router on and off, rebooting, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It's very unstable. My old WLAN N Linksys was constantly at 300. That's when it dawned on me. I went to Device Manager and then Linksys WUSB6300 Properties and changed two things. Go to the "Advanced" tab and first change the "Preferred Band" value to "5G First". Then go to "Wireless" and change this to IEEE 802.11ac (make sure you have an "ac" router). Now I'm downloading at a steady 650 Mbps (I only connected it to USB 2.0 so I probably won't see it higher). Let's see how it stands the test of time. Photos are included with the changes.
