If you want the velcro to work buy these kids shoes in WIDE sizes
I love Sperry kids shoes but buying these I learned an important lesson - Sperry's walk very narrow, and worth buying the WIDE version of these shoes if your kid's feet are even a bit big/chunky. My child's feet aren't very wide, but he needs a WIDE sole on all of the Sperry sneakers for the velcro to work. Listen to other reviews when they say the velcro doesn't fully bond - that's code to buy WIDE
