Review on Cllena Dual USB Port Charger Socket with Quick Charge 3.0 and 2.4A for Toyota Vehicles by Nate Mims

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Perfect fit for FJ Cruiser

Overall rating: Works great and easy to install. I'm new to electrics but had no trouble installing. Nothing you can't find with a few good google searches if you're worried. I had another one on my last FJ and it wasn't dull. It didn't look bad, but it didn't look OEM either. It matches the factory switches really well and seems to be of decent cosmetic quality and to be honest the electrical components seemed fine too. The instructions are helpful for people who have never installed anything like this and may not be familiar with the wiring. I wish the LEDs that illuminate the ports were a bit dimmer as they are quite bright, but that's really my only criticism of the product. Seems to charge my phone efficiently. My Delorme InReach, which normally takes a long time to charge, was taking 25 minutes to go from 0 to 47% this weekend when I realized at the last minute it was empty (the minutes in the photo are inaccurate as it's still counted). She). ). Saved my ass from unplugging. It was enough to impress me! 👍Technical (or) layman's point of view: I used butt connectors to attach an o-ring to the ground (black) wire and added a fuse to the hot (red) wire. I unplugged my FJ's panel, routed the wires through the hole, and plugged it back in. I then routed a ground wire under the center console (prior to installation I removed all trim in the center dash and console, check out a series of videos explaining how to do this if you don't know) and ground it under the screw. . There's an official ground stud somewhere, but I didn't feel like looking for it. I then routed a hot wire under the steering column and up into the fuse panel. I made sure to check a few fuse links before choosing a location that was only on when the car was running. I quickly checked which side of the fuse is hot with a test lamp (watch the video on using the extra fuse if this confuses you, they are polarized so orientation is important). Then all I had to do was put in a fuse, I decided on 5 amps but am considering 7.5 and then hooked up an extra fuse. Ready to go. (*If you're using a site that already has a fuse, you'll also need to make sure you put the original fuse in the second slot when you add the fuse.) Generally, if you're going for a matte OEM look with 2 USB ports, that's what you need. I hope this helps someone because when I first did this (on a previous machine) I was nervous about screwing it up and spent a lot of time Googling to make sure I got it right.
