Read the warning on the packaging! This product is California Proposition 65 Listed!

Proposition 65 requires companies to warn Californians about significant exposure to chemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. These chemicals are found in the products that Californians buy, in their homes or workplaces, or in products that end up in the environment. By requiring this information, Proposition 65 enables Californians to make informed decisions about their exposure to these chemicals. Proposition 65 also prohibits California companies from knowingly discharging significant quantities of the listed chemicals into drinking water sources. Proposition 65 requires California to publish a list of chemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. This list, which must be updated at least annually, has grown to about 900 chemicals since it was first published in 1987. Proposition 65 became law in November 1986 when California voters approved it by a majority of 63 to 37 percent. The official title of Proposition 65 is the Drinking Water Safety and Toxic Substances Control Act of 1986. What does the warning mean? The entity issuing the alert knows or believes they are exposing people to one or more of the chemicals listed. By law, a warning must be given for listed chemicals unless exposure is low enough not to pose a significant cancer risk, or well below observed levels. cause birth defects or other reproductive harm.
