Really Stihl? I don't know who came up with this, but they must be idiots. I bought it because I've always trusted Stihl products and I own a lot of them, but this little tool is just awful. I would have sent it back but after trying to use it for a while I just grabbed it and threw it against the wall. You have to watch your character. That's what happens. When you press the button to make it light up, the display turns on and the light comes on (sometimes you have to press it twice). Once you are ready to put the pins in the tree, the light will turn off (maximum two seconds). If there is enough light, you can determine the moisture level, but if you go to another place, everything turns off and you have to start over. It bounces back pretty well though.
