This system works, but there are problems.

First of all I didn't buy this for the Civic. I bought it for an Isuzu Rodeo. I chose the Civic version because it is closest to my factory ignition system. Electronics all work fine. I tested this system on a motorcycle battery stand to make sure everything worked before installing it. The very first problem I encountered was key rings. Basically I had to sacrifice one of them to figure out how to install the battery. There were no instructions in the box or online for this particular keychain. You have to remove the empty key by pressing the rectangular button on the side. Pull out the key. Then grasp the chrome top of the fob and slide it toward the rectangular button. It will click about an eighth of an inch. Now lift up the chrome piece and remove it. Now insert the blank into the slot and press the two sides of the housing apart. Remove the clear/white rubber plug and insert the battery. I wish I knew. The other key fob still works perfectly, it only has traces of what I was trying to figure out how to open it. The biggest problem, however, is the component connectors. They're all standard JST connectors, but they're absolutely terrible. The lowest quality connectors and thinnest wires I have ever seen. During the installation of the system, the cables from the connections of the LED display, the signal receiver and the button to the door handle came loose. I had to re-solder them all which wasn't easy as the cheap connectors don't let the pins of the wires slide out easily. I had to cut one of the connectors in half to get to the pin. With this all soldered and connected I was able to proceed with the final installation. Now to how the system works. The remotes work flawlessly and the button start is incredibly well done. In my case I had to change the clutch switch and brake light switch a bit. To make the remote start work I connected a clutch switch to the fuel pump relay so that it turns on when the ignition is turned on and allows the car to start before the relay turns off. I ran a wire straight from the brake light switch to the EasyGO harness so it would start from the button. There are some very annoying things about his job. First, the door handle button needs to be pressed 3 or 4 times before it sends an unlock signal. It's faster to just use a fob, but the whole point of this setup was to eliminate the need for a fob or key. Whether the key fob is in the car, in your pocket or anywhere else, the system keeps charging itself by locking the doors and sounding the alarm every 30 seconds. It's EXTREMELY annoying when you're working on the car or getting in and out of the car. This forces you to find the key fob before you can open the door again. This is a big problem if you leave the key fob in the car and close the door. It locks you out and the button on the handle doesn't seem to work until it's back out of the car. The irony is that the system doesn't lock the doors while the engine is running and the car is driving, which is the opposite of what you want. The doors should lock automatically when the car is in motion, but they only lock automatically when the car is off. Basically the system works. I don't think I'd recommend this until they get better quality connectors and make a few updates to prevent auto-locking procedures from automatically locking you out of the car when you and the fob are in or near, and car - lock when the car is in motion. I think this system has a lot of potential, it just needs to be improved.
