Review on πŸ’ͺ Highly Efficient Superior Pump 92341 1/3 HP Cast Iron Submersible Sump Pump featuring Vertical Float Switch for Optimal Performance by Edgar Rowe

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Sturdy design, can pump vertically and remove muddy water

I originally bought this to pump water out of holes in a foundation foot at a construction site that were filled with muddy/semi-muddy earth every week later heavy rainwater. I placed the pump assembly in a 5 gallon bucket and drilled 8 holes about 2" from the bottom of the bucket to prevent direct exposure to the thicker dirt while still allowing water to flow in. Then I dipped the bucket and pumped into the base. Holes with a rope connected to the pump and bucket. Obviously my holes were shallow enough that I wouldn't submerge the connectors in water, but they were at least 3 feet deep. A 24 foot drain hose (ASIN B000EI5IB4) was attached to the pump and I ran the pump. I disconnected the pump from a small generator for this purpose and it worked fine. The pump was very quick with water in every hole and saved me a lot of manual pump/bucket work. I had to pump out the last inch of water with a hand mud pump (similar to the ASIN B00J5MWC8C) but it was very easy. A few months later I needed help draining a partially filled pool to make some adjustments. , the pump was commissioned with the above drain hose and we poured with no problems. The pump had no problem with the 4+ foot vertical stroke required to push the water up to push it out of the pool. The cast iron body and entire pump assembly show no signs of problems due to submersion and I have seen no signs or rusting or hesitation in starting up after use and storage for several months between uses. I cleaned the pump after each use by pumping known clean water through the pump and then draining it before storage. The float system can be bypassed by simply not dipping the float shutoff fork. This plug is sandwiched between the pump plug and the outlet/power supply.

Pros

Cons
  • Good but not great
