I bought these wire cutters to cut handmade soap to use with a wooden miter box made for the purpose. As other reviewers have pointed out, figuring out how to put it all together was a real hassle. My husband, who has never collected anything in his life, figured it out in about 30 seconds. These tiny washers at the ends of the wires just sit in the grooves and are held in place when you tighten the wires. It's so simple and I tend to overcomplicate things. As you can see from the photo, I don't have a pen. That's because it just fell out of my hand the third time. It didn't break and I could have glued it all the way back on, but for my purposes I figured it would be better to hold it by each end than a handle, so I left it. I have had a few other pliers and this was my favorite. It holds tension better, the frame is extremely stiff, and the wires attach easily, although I've cut dozens of batches of soap and never changed the wire.
