Review on πŸ”’ Enhance Windows 10 Security with Verifi P5100 Premium Metal USB Fingerprint Reader by William Dean

Revainrating 2 out of 5

[UPDATE] Downgrading my rating due to

The initial install with the drivers and supporting software for the device had errors thrown while digging out the supporting components for the reader. Several installation attempts were unsuccessful and the last thing to do was to connect to Verifi P5100 support. What was confusing was that the product came with the current generic version of the supporting software. The solution was to get an earlier version of the software. After that, all Windows 10 tools (Windows Hello, etc.) worked as advertised and using them was smooth. However, when installing Windows 10 Pro 20H2, the product was not recognized and supported, if it was connected without any supporting software from the manufacturer. The time will show. I've been using the product for some time. And despite the fact that after the above updates, the device became increasingly slow - all this without new additions (software / hardware / firmware) and simply using its BAU. I've tried updating drivers, updating startup/boot tasks, and removing anything that isn't needed. However, and this is progressive, it simply does not recognize my fingerprints (each individually - each differently - assigned to two different profiles/credentials) or that the sensor is touched at all. The longest time was 97s. I would recommend, If you have a Windows 10 Pro platform and need Biodetection, do not use Win 10 basic support and do not purchase this product in the current version. couldn't even install with the product and I had to troubleshoot from the start to find out that only the lower version would work. Very very disappointing.
