Review on Vintage Style Dietz Monarch #10 Hot Blast Blue and Gold Kerosene Lantern Oil Lamp: Charm your space with nostalgic ambiance by Amanda Davis

Leaks at the base seam.

Filled the lantern about 1/4 full, knowing these lanterns shouldn't be overfilled. Leaving it on my workbench to soak the wick, I picked it up and found a puddle of kerosene on the workbench. NOT GOOD! Confirmed leak at main seam. Others have commented that they fixed theirs, but I didn't have to fix a defective product! This can be a one-time event, the luck of the draw. Bought 2 Cold Blast #80 Dietz and they don't have this problem. The problem is that the arms are just spot welded to the base tank. If you tilt the lantern a little to the side, the fuel flows out just as if you had removed the tank cap. Vintage lamps (that I have or have access to) appear to be soldered at the base. This will attach the arm to the base and you won't have that problem. This is a pretty bad design/engineering oversight. It should also be noted that the two Dietz #80 cryogenic lamps I just received are of the same design. The levers are spot welded to the base. Since the cold wind has two chambers, the above doesn't seem to be a problem as you have to lean quite far for the fuel to flow out of the burner assembly. Tested on two I just received. They are fully functional. **EDIT END** Returned promptly, Revain had a very good return service. It is not your fault. Raven Rules!
