I was looking for natural ways to dye candles because many dyes are toxic. I've found that mica comes closest to being a natural product when it says natural (because some of them are synthesized in the lab). Mica doesn't actually burn, which is great because it means nothing gets thrown into the air. However, mica tends to clog candle wicks. And online candle making tutorials were almost nil for Mica. I've also heard that mica doesn't really stain and/or mix well with wax. But I kept going anyway! Thought it might work on some melts. Well it worked! And the color came out beautifully. I used turquoise and it matched perfectly. See attached photos of smelting. I used beeswax and some coconut oil with essential oil. I already have a few ideas on how to make candles in these beautiful colors. I'll update my review when I'm sure if the wicks are clogged. But my rating stays 5 stars because I ordered my Wax Mels to be painted and it did the job better than I expected!
